Join us as we explore the brilliant mind of Qiurui Lin.
Please introduce yourself:
I’m Qiurui Lin but people call me Arui most of time. I come from China.

If you had to describe your photography style, how would you
describe it?

The first word came to my mind is dreamy. I really enjoy capturing the
image which combine reality and dream, rather than just recording the
real world.
What’s the most exciting part about being involved in this industry?
Working with excellent team members!

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in this
industry?
Keep shooting what really intrigues you.
What is your favorite part about working with editorials? Any
favorite moments?
My favorite part must be processing the theme or idea. I would have
brainstorming with my team sometimes, and always get a better idea.
Working with the team who has the similar taste make me relax and
comfortable.

My most favorite moments recently was to seek a stone which would be
shot in an editorial. Disappointing that it was so hard to find a stone in a
big city .And just few days ago, my friend send me a gift which was a
perfect stone haha. It’s just like destiny.

Share with us some of your favorite photoshoots and why you love
them!
<the snake and the farmer>can be impressive to me. I tried to achieve a
contemporary fable of “ the farmer and the snake ” to tell a story about a
suffering woman, focusing on the emotions of her. I keep concerning about
the domestic violence issue, especially the psychological trauma which
would always be ignored .I want to tell a story to make people be aware of
the issue. In this series, the snake represent the perpetrator in domestic
violence. Finding and modeling a snake was a hard task for me, but luckily,I
made friends with “ baby girl”(name of the snake)

How has social distancing aided or hindered your artwork?
I’m not good at social media but I think it’s still a good way to showcase
yourself and make friends.

What role do you believe editorial artists play in society? (their
impact)

I think the most important thing is to create the things that you truly
love, not just for the standard aesthetic, to encourage different types of
beauty.
